About

Born & raised in Texas, Mitch has been living and painting in the Pacific Northwest for the past 15 years.  “I am inspired by artists like Bet Borgeson,  James Gurney, John Howe, Eileen Sorg, and N.C. Wyeth.  I like to create emotion using lighting and atmosphere, I paint many subjects as I enjoy the process and challenge painting presents.”

Mitch enjoys time outdoors, hiking & snowshoeing.  The beauty of the mountains and shorelines near Seattle are inspiration to his designs. .

Mitch is largely self-taught, he has attended classes and workshops by Eileen Sorg, Bet Borgeson and Children's Book writer and illustrator David Weisner.   Although primarily focused upon colored pencil, Mitch also uses watercolor & ink and often gravitates toward mixed media designs.

Mitch is a graduate of the University of North Texas and a member of the CPSA (Colored Pencil Society of America) and the SCBWI (Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators).  He hopes to continue showing  his artwork at galleries and events in the Seattle area. Mitch has been married for almost 30 years and has 3 children living in Seattle, Cheyenne, Wyoming & Salt Lake City.
